...because I just added "tutoring" to my list of interests today. What a good idea for a community! I just started (this week, in fact) a new job as a teaching assistant/tutoring for the writing center at my school. Some background: sixth-year student, second-year grad student heading for a Master's in Applied Linguistics. It seems that the next step for most tutors at my writing center is teaching English Composition, which I might do two years from now, but I don't know.
I like the fact that there's a place now in LJ Land where tutors from all over creation can offer hints and inside knowledge and horror stories. I've found that most of my useful tips for undergraduates (our center only works with undergraduates) come from off the top of my head, and they seem to work well. In regards to a previous entry, our center also maintains a website that has some tutorials and links for writers, provided here (it is up-to-date in spite of the mislabeled year).
I hope this community continues to lure people in.
